The CW’s Arrow has been a longtime success for DC Entertainment, maintaining a strong fanbase and fleshing out much of the DC Universe over its seven seasons. Following the announcement of an eighth and final season for Arrow, many have speculated what will become of the characters and cast members, and whether or not they’ll appear in other DC media--including star Stephen Amell, who recently expressed his enthusiasm for playing a DC villain.

According to ScreenRant, Amell said at MCM London that, if he were to reappear in the DC Universe, “I’d like to play a villain. If I’m going to play a DC character again, it has to be a villain. I like villains.” When asked whether he had his eye on a specific character, he quickly responded: “General Zod. I watched Superman II with my kid the other day, and it was the best.”

Though there have been no plans announced for a future role for Amell, the space will likely remain open for him, as all signs seem to indicate that his character will die during Season 8 of Arrow. Theories of Green Arrow’s death have emerged following the finale of Season 7, which featured a flash-forward of the character’s daughter at his grave.

Season 8 will mark a major milestone for DC’s Arrowverse, which originated with Arrow and spun off into series including Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Vixen, and The Flash. While the DC Extended Universe film properties have enjoyed financial success, the Arrowverse series have adapted much of the DC Universe’s lesser known material.

As for us, we’ve loved Amell’s performance as Oliver Queen from the beginning of Arrow, and we’d be glad to see him make future appearances in the DC Extended Universe. In the meantime, we’ll keep our ear to the ground for any information on Season 8 of Arrow.
