Ariana Grande is Getting Called Out for Seemingly Putting on a 'Blaccent'

While Ariana Grande has been getting nearly nothing but praise lately, some people recently called the singer out for using a “blaccent.” According to Urban Dictionary, a blaccent is “a distinctive manner of speech, pitch or tone particular to African American urban inner city youth.”

The 25-year-old singer's alleged blaccent has recently been a hot topic of discussion on social media.

As many people know, Ari was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year, and as part of her interview with the magazine she sat for the camera and took a look at some adorable baby pictures. Her accent during this interview gained a lot of negative attention on Twitter.

"I'm like b***h that's my cookie," she said, describing one photo. "That's my juice, okay. Carry on. Thank you, next. That's what this baby picture says."

Another user made a video comparing an old interview to the interview in question.

Social media users criticized Ariana for sounding differently than usual, specifically concerned with her pronunciation of the word “juice.”

Ari, who is of Italian descent, has also come under fire due to her love of a deep tan. Some went as far as to accuse the singer of blackface, most recently for her appearance in her "Breathin’" music video.

Some loyal fans came to Ariana’s defense however, saying that others were reading too much into the singer's tone in the interview.

Ariana has not commented publicly on the criticism.
