Anthony Daniels Gets Emotional About Last Day Filming 'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker'

While fans can't wait for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to hit theaters this December, it'll be bittersweet, as the installment is bringing the Skywalker Saga to a close. With the end of this era seemingly comes the end of C-3PO, who is played by actor Anthony Daniels.
Daniels recently expressed how the last day of filming for the iconic character was emotional for him for many reasons. According to CinemaBlend, the 73-year-old star told reporters at the D23 Expo, "It was a perfect, but bittersweet ending."

Daniels went on to say:
"It was difficult not to tear up a bit. Partly because J.J. [Abrams] said some really nice things and all the crew were listening and watching. I have to admit it was an emotional moment, but I knew it was coming. It wasn’t even a scene in which I said anything. For once, Threepio was in a scene without butting in. But I felt it’s such a terrific movie that I thought it was okay to say goodbye. I feel satisfied with this one. I have something to be proud of that, you know, as I say goodbye."
The Rise of Skywalker trailer was bittersweet. Hooray for the new crowd, but in with the new means out with the old. We're gonna lose Leia (clearly) and Lando aren't we? Then none of the old guard will be alive anymore. They better not kill Chewy, C3PO or R2D2 though, or we riot.

It looks like The Rise of the Skywalker could very possibly be C-3PO's final appearance in any Star Wars movie--at least live-action. Fans are no doubt saddened about some of their favorite characters making their exits, although we're excited to see what the new trilogies will introduce.
