James Gunn's infamous firing for years-old offensive tweets last July not only angered multiple Marvel fans, but it also didn't sit well with many of the Guardians of the Galaxy actors who worked under his direction.

Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the MCU, expressed strong thoughts about Disney's firing and threatened to quit. Other cast members supported Gunn through a joint statement released on Chris Pratt's Instagram.

But earlier this month, it was confirmed that Disney and Marvel rehired Gunn and he's on board to direct Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 3 once he's completed his duties for DC's The Suicide Squad. Now, the same stars who remained loyal to the director are beginning to once again speak out in support of him.

Zoe Saldana, who stars as Gamora in the MCU, said she's proud of both Gunn and Disney for handling the public pressure.

"I'm proud of him. I'm happy that he's coming back," Saldana told Entertainment Tonight about the filmmaker's return. "I'm so proud of Disney, actually, that all the leaders right now behind that big corporation decided to lead by example, and spreading the word and the message of redemption is important."

Though Gunn's old tweets that initially got him axed at Disney were reprehensible, there's something to be said that those who work closely with him have supported him after the firing and now after his rehiring.

Gunn will serve as an executive producer for Avengers: Endgame, which is set for an April 26 theatrical release.
