Why Was David Eason Fired From 'Teen Mom'?

If you're just a casual Teen Mom 2 fan and are wondering why the series' fan-base really just can't stand Jenelle Evans' husband David Eason, there is a solid explanation for that. And it's the same reason the father was even fired from the MTV show.

The whole ordeal, as we saw on the show, truly escalated on Feb. 14, 2018, following the tragic Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. That day, Jenelle and David posted a photo which showed the mother-of-three posing with a gun, which expectedly garnered tons of negative attention. Apparently, per Jenelle's mom Barbara, the couple hadn't been watching the news and didn't know about the shooting.

But following backlash, David flipped out. A few days later, he went on a homophobic tweeting spree, calling members of the LGBTQ community "abominations." He also hit back at people who criticized him for owning assault rifles and showing them off on social media.

By Feb. 20, 2018, David was fired from the reality show. MTV spoke to PEOPLE, giving the following statement: "David Eason's personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV. With six weeks left in production of Teen Mom 2, effective immediately, we are ending our relationship with him."

Through it all, Jenelle has stayed by David's side, even going as far as to claim he's not actually homophobic. “He doesn’t hate those people,” Jenelle told Dr. Drew on David's view of the LGBTQ community. “He just doesn’t want his kids to grow up and be that way.” Since being fired, the controversial father has continued to use social media to express his offensive thoughts.
