This story includes spoilers for 'Spider-Man: Far From Home.'

Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in theaters today, giving fans the opportunity to quench their thirst for more Marvel Studios content following Avengers: Endgame. But as critics and fans are filing in to see the film, many are apparently surprised to find that one scene, highly touted in all the film’s trailers, isn't present in the final product--and the reason why just emerged.

The scene, which depicts Spider-Man dispatching several criminals in a restaurant in his Iron Spider suit and subsequently conversing with several police officers, was featured in every Sony-released trailer, but not the film itself. In an interview with CinemaBlend, star Tom Holland revealed that the reason for the cut was to help the film’s pacing.

“[The scene] was filmed for the movie...it was this kind of idea that Peter Parker was doing his errand before the vacation, which was getting some toothpaste, he needed to get a dual headphone adapter, pick up his passport, and take down the Manfredi crime family,” Holland said. “It just slowed down the pace of the movie, like, we really just wanted to get the kids out into Europe and on vacation, and it was just something that the movie didn’t need."

“The action sequences in this movie hold up, and they’re so great, we just didn’t need one more, you know?” Holland added.

Though Holland stopped there, there may have been an additional reason for cutting the scene. Previously, sharp-eyed Marvel fans have noted that the film’s final 129-minute runtime makes the total runtime of all Marvel films 3000 minutes--a lighthearted tribute to an iconic line from Avengers: Endgame. Doubtless cutting the extended scene at the beginning helped bring the film closer to that point, however, it's important to note that Endgame co-director Joe Russo claimed the total runtime was "absolutely coincidental."

While we’re bummed that Far From Home doesn’t include that scene, we’re still excited to see it--and hopefully we’ll catch the part in an extended edition.
