Why Fans Think Archie and Josie Might Be the Next Couple on 'Riverdale'

Riverdale is currently on a midseason break, which is probably necessary with all the drama the show has dished out over the past few weeks.

When the the third season returns with episode nine, there are a bunch of theories about what will happen, including a new romantic plot line for two of our favorite Riverdale High students.

The emotional breakup of Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge shook fans, but some seem to think that once he returns to Riverdale, it will be Josie McCoy who can’t refuse Archie’s bad-boy vibe.

Between interviews with both KJ Apa and Ashleigh Murray, hints from writers, and behind-the scenes pictures from the actors, fans are pretty confident that “Archosie” will be the next hot couple in Riverdale, according to PopBuzz.

The first major hint is that Murray revealed, “there are things coming up for Josie’s love life. We’re only just now kind of broaching that, but there’s definitely going to be some tangible lovey-ness happening this year.”

In a different interview, Apa opened up about Archie’s downward spiral following his return to Riverdale High, but assured that he “is saved by a person and by music.” Josie and Archie have collaborated on music in the past, so it could very well happen again in the third season.

Though nothing has been confirmed, fans are also guessing that a picture tweeted out by writer Britta Lundin also points to the existence of Archosie. The picture featured a scantily clad bedroom scene that will be appearing in episode 12, and fans quickly realized that Apa and Murray were both on set when the picture was taken.

One thing is for sure, fans will be waiting very impatiently for the return of season 3 on Jan. 16, 2019.
