Why Fans Are Convinced Ariana Grande's New Song 'Imagine' is About Mac Miller
By Natalie Zamora

Ariana Grande is gearing up to release her next album Thank U, Next, and her latest single "Imagine" is out now!
The 25-year-old pop star gave fans a tease of the song ahead of time, explaining it's about "a simple, beautiful love that is now (and forever) unattainable." That, along with her recent interview with Billboard in which she says her new album is "actually a super sad chapter," gave us enough insight to know "Imagine" would probably be darker than Ari's usual songs.
And after listening to it, it's obvious this was an emotional song for Ari to write. So much so, that fans are speculating it's about Mac Miller, her ex-boyfriend who tragically passed away in September. Ariana's Billboard cover story revealed a song on Thank U, Next would be about Mac, and with lyrics on "Imagine" like "Staying up all night, order me pad Thai," "Baby I never thought that it would be you," and even the song's title, fans see direct references to the late rapper.
Many took to Twitter to discuss.

did ariana reference mac's cinderella?
cinderella: when you hungry I can shut you up with stir fry
imagine: staying up all night, order me pad thai
cinderella: you used to tell me all the time I ain't your type
imagine: baby I never thought that it would be you#imagine
Fans are seeing parallels between "Imagine" and Mac's "Cinderella," a track Ariana admitted was written about her. It seems they both reference the singer's taste in food, and the fact that she didn't think she would be with him.
CURIOSITY: Did you know that Mac Miller had a tattoo with the same name as Ariana Grande's "#imagine" song?#imaginetonight pic.twitter.com/fql2S0RfNW

One person pointed out that Mac had a tattoo of the word "Imagine," providing photo evidence.
At this point, people are convinced the song is about him and are taking to social media to express how emotional it's making them. One tweeted, "y'all i'm sitting on my couch...eyes closed... istening [sic] to Imagine and all i could think abt [sic] is the memories of mac and ariana....i'm literally in tears they really was soulmates. my heart breaks once more."
Another simply wrote, "mac and ariana were soulmates and the proof is in 'imagine.'
It's an emotional time for all involved, and we're happy to support Ariana every step of the way. We can't wait for the full album to drop.
