Why Cole Sprouse Didn't Take Lili Reinhart to the Critics' Choice Awards

Award season is officially among us, and for many, the best part of that is checking out all the awesome red carpet looks and seeing the couples who attend. The 2019 Critics' Choice Awards last night had a pretty great turn out, with many fan-favorite actors coming out to win, present awards, or to just have fun. Riverdale actor Cole Sprouse attended the event, but many scratched their heads when he appeared with another woman who wasn't his girlfriend, and co-star, Lili Reinhart.

Cole walked the carpet with Haley Lu Richardson, which made some at home watching extremely confused. Well, it turns out there is a very reasonable explanation.

Cole and Haley are starring in the upcoming film Five Feet Apart alongside each other, which is due out in theaters March 22, 2019. The pair attended the award show to promote the film, even presenting during the ceremony together. And although Lili did not attend the show at all, she was watching from home and showed support.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Lili shared a video of Cole and Haley on screen, writing, "Hi goobers!!!"

Naturally, many are happy Lili is being so supportive of the pair attending the show together, and some pointed out she's good friends with Haley as well. One fan made sure to clarify what was going on for people who might've thought Haley and Cole went as romantic dates.

Haley is reportedly engaged to boyfriend Brett Dier, and the pair are even very public with their relationship on social media.

While we're upset Lili attended the Golden Globes without Cole, and now Cole attended the Critics' Choice Awards without Lili, there are tons of other opportunities for the couple to step out together this award season. Here's to hoping they'll be on the red carpet together ASAP!
