Gal Gadot has received a heap of praise for her performance as Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe. Gadot, who will reprise the role in Wonder Woman 1984, will always have a special place in the heart of the DC fandom for bringing Diana Prince to life. However, that doesn't mean she was the fan-base's first choice.

During the launch of the DCEU, many fans theorized that actress Charlize Theron would embody the role of Wonder Woman in the franchise. The rumors intensified when reports ahead of Wonder Woman's release teased that Theron was offered a role in the flick. Now, the Academy Award-winning actress is revealing she was offered a role in the 2017 movie, but not as the revolutionary superhero.

"I did not turn the role of Wonder Woman down," Theron revealed during a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen after a fan asked about reports that she did so. She continued:

"This is a great example of how Hollywood slaps you in the face when you start aging. So somebody had said to me, 'There's action on this thing, Wonder Woman, we just want to make you aware of it,' and I was like, 'I'm not familiar with it, I mean, what does Wonder Woman do?' And then this person said, 'No, it's for Wonder Woman's mom.' It's fine. It was the defining moment where I crossed over. And I wasn't fully aware of it."

Theron's disappointment with the offer is completely understandable, as she is just nine years older than Gadot and could've definitely been awesome as the Justice League member. However, she deserves props for finding some comedy in the whole ordeal.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set for a June 5, 2020 theatrical release.
