I guess Robert De Niro didn’t catch the memo that you aren’t supposed to give away spoilers while on talk shows. Then again, he is Robert De Niro…he can kind of do what he wants at this point.

ComicBook.com reports that the legendary actor stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the highly-anticipated film, Joker. De Niro plays the role of Murray Franklin in the Todd Phillips’ film. Franklin is the host of a popular talk show that airs Arthur Fleck’s (played by Joaquin Phoenix) standup routine, later making fun of the future Joker’s talents.

In the video above, Fallon interviews De Niro, and he drops some serious hints (a.k.a. spoilers) about the fate of his character. He first states about working with Phoenix, “He was terrific. He was great yeah. I don't like what he does to me but I like him a lot.”

If that wasn’t enough, when Fallon asks De Niro how he liked playing a TV host like himself, De Niro responded, laughing, "No, it was fun. I wasn't happy with the way it turned out but..."

I guess that answers that. Although, as ComicBook.com points out, it’s not a huge surprise. Franklin publicly humiliates arguably the most dangerous villain in the DC Universe. Of course it shouldn't work out well for him.
