Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian have had a long and storied history that’s seen considerable personal growth. The couple just opened up to one another about these changes in a clip from Flip it Like Disick, with Disick saying that he was “so insecure” in their old relationship.

The clip, according to Us Weekly, sees Disick speaking to Kardashian on his difficulty adjusting from his life as a young socialite to that of a father. “I feel like years ago, when I was, like, younger and stuff, I don’t know that I’ve been, like, motivated to, like, do all these things for the kids and, like, build houses for them,” Disick says. “I was just so insecure that, like, everybody would look at me like I’m not cool or young anymore.”

Kardashian and Disick shared a sometimes toxic relationship during their nine years together, seeing major changes in one another’s lives and learning to adjust to parenting three children. Following their breakup, they have established an amicable relationship, spending time together and even taking the occasional vacation with each other.

Kardashian, for her part, commends Disick on his growth in the clip, remarking that his depression at the time obviously impaired his ability to appreciate the positive elements of his life. She concludes by saying, “You’ve definitely come a long way. I’m very proud of you.”

As for us, we’re glad to see that Scott and Kourtney have grown so much together--it’s a nice reminder that even the Kardashian-Jenner extended family are human.
