Maci Bookout might be making progress in her journey to co-parenting with ex Ryan Edwards this season of Teen Mom OG, but it seems this week's episode could be a setback in that process.

Last night's episode of the MTV series showed Maci and husband Taylor McKinney gearing up to celebrate Bentley's birthday, with a celebration at the zoo. The mom-of-three wanted Bentley's dad Ryan, and his step-mom Mackenzie Standifer to be in attendance, which made things a bit tricky considering she and Taylor still had a restraining order against Ryan. Well thankfully, things worked out relatively well—Ryan was late to the party and missed Bentley blowing out his cake candles, however he and Mack did show up and spent time with the birthday boy.

But things got complicated when Maci noticed something irregular about Ryan's behavior. While speaking with friend Katie later on in the episode, the MTV personality explained:

"It’s the first time I’ve seen him since he got out of jail that, in my opinion, he was 100% not sober. I just felt like the cycle is starting all over again. I just wish that someone that’s close to him would say, 'Do you need more help?' and tell him, 'It’s okay if you do.' If the last year didn’t change anything, then the clock is ticking even faster at this point."

Hopefully things do get better for Maci and Ryan's barely-there co-parenting relationship, and according to the reality star herself, that seems to be where they're trending. During an interview last month, she shared:

"There are some times that are coming up on the season that we are actually in the same room together, doing the best that we can for Bentley’s sake. It’s definitely not unreachable, but it’s still just a thing where I think baby steps are best and definitely not forcing anything that that doesn’t seem like it would happen naturally. I think it’s the best way to go for our situation."

Teen Mom OG airs every Tuesday night on MTV.
