Employees of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center received the surprise of a lifetime thanks to John Krasinski. The Office star proudly hails from Boston, Massachusetts, and he enlisted the help of another hometown hero to honor frontline workers amid COVID-19.

John and famed Red Sox slugger David Ortiz decided to meet a few local health heroes, and it was the ultimate surprise for workers at the Beantown hospital. The special moment was captured on the Jim Halpert actor's new YouTube show, Some Good News, where he dished on why he knew Ortiz would be the perfect way to brighten the workers' day.

"Baseball is America's sport for a reason: It brings us all together," Krasinski stated. "And for me, and I'm sure a lot of you, the calendar just doesn't really feel the same until that opening day pitch is thrown out."

"Well, last week was supposed to be opening day for almost every major league team and that loss was felt by everyone. And even in the midst of 24-hour shifts and sleepless nights, our healthcare heroes were missing baseball too," Krasinski continued.

When Ortiz joined the conversation, he shared a heartwarming message for the healthcare workers, stating, "I gotta tell you guys from the very bottom of my heart how much I love you and respect you for what you guys are doing. Taking your lives, taking your time, that's something... it goes beyond everything."

The sweetest part of all? Ortiz and Krasinski even gifted the workers with Red Sox tickets for life. It's certainly not an easy time to work in healthcare, but at least these dedicated heroes have a lot to look forward to once the pandemic is over.
