The comparison was inevitable. HBO's Game of Thrones is gone for good and fans have been unsure where to go from here. Now, Netflix’s new fantasy series, The Witcherlooks like it's taking viewers to just as magical places.

Naturally, some fans say that it's not right (or possible) to compare anything to the GoT series. However, The Witcher showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich, is grateful to be in such good company, reports Winter is Coming.

While speaking with GamesRadar+, Hissrich explained:

“The comparison is ultimately incredibly flattering. Because at the end of the day, for a new television show to be premiering into a world, and for people to be saying, ‘I think it could be as successful or as popular as that other show’ — that’s incredible.”

“All of that being said, I think The Witcher stands on its own two feet very, very well,” Hissrich added. “And it’s a very different story. I think the tone is incredibly different than Game of Thrones. And when viewers come in, I think they’ll see that right away.”

Guess there's only one way to find out. The Witcher is now streaming on Netflix.
