'The Punisher' Cast Apparently Found Out About Cancellation From Social Media

It looks like Netflix's The Punisher and Jessica Jones will be joining its fellow Marvel shows, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, in the pile of cancellations that have occurred on the streaming site.

But the way the one of the casts was notified of its cancelation was a little unorthodox. According to ComicBook.com, the cast of The Punisher found out their show was canceled on social media, after recent rumors and reports stated that the show was probably safe and was getting a third season.

The Punisher star, Royce Johnson, who played Brett Mahoney, told ComicBook.com that he was met with the news just like the rest of us, on his social media.

"I found out this morning, brother, same way we found out about the other shows," Johnson said. "I tell people that sometimes the actors are the last ones to know, and that's what it is, we are. We find out through social media as well, you know? Or we check our emails, and we get a letter."

Johnson is now no stranger to canceled Marvel-Netflix shows, as he also guest-starred as Mahoney in Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

News the show was canceled first surfaced after star Jon Bernthal posted a farewell to his character on Instagram, which was then followed by an official announcement.

“Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Netflix said in a statement. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come."

But don't worry much, because Hulu might be picking up the lost Marvel shows.
