When it comes to the identity of the Scranton Strangler, the jury's still out for many fans of The Office.

One theory on the topic floating around Reddit has got our attention, and it's just so bizarre it could be true. Apparently, fans of both the Dunder Mifflin series and Showtime's Dexter are speculating that the Bay Harbor Butcher might've also been the Scranton Strangler. Could it be?

The theory begins with the fact that in The Office, the company Sabre takes over Dunder Mifflin, and Sabre originated in Florida. Fans of Dexter will know that the show takes place in Miami. To make things more interesting, Reddit user Piker10 notes that what looks like a Sabre printer can be spotted next to Dexter in one of the episodes. "I believe he goes to Scranton, Pennsylvania and becomes the Scranton Strangler, a killer mentioned a bunch of times in The Office," the fan argues. "While in Scranton Dexter meets Creed Braton [sic], and has a relationship with him akin to Dexter[']s relationship with the Arthur Mitchell back in Florida."

We wouldn't put anything past Creed, of course, but one commenter made a compelling counterpoint, writing, "I don't think Dexter would be comfortable with leaving bodies around to be found and investigated. I would be [interested], however, to see him meet, stalk and ultimately dispatch the Scranton Strangler!"

As this theory continues to evolve in the comments section, some say the serial killer known for killing serial killers is way more likely to have killed the Scranton Strangler than to have been him. As noted by the post, the timing of the shows would've made this overlap possible, sure, but is it plausible? You be the judge.
