'Teen Mom' Star Amber Portwood Reveals Heartbreaking Story of How Her Sister Passed Away

It goes without saying Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood has gone through some troubling times. Throughout her years on the MTV series, she's had relationship conflicts, served time in jail, revealed she suffered a miscarriage, and more. Thankfully, Amber is strong enough to keep going in her life, although she's admitted she planned to commit suicide before.

Amber's most recent reveal is extremely upsetting, as the reality star opened up in the Teen Mom OG: Unseen Moments special on her late sister. According to the MTV star, her younger sister died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome when Amber was just five years old.

This reveal came after Amber was speaking to boyfriend Andrew Glennon about taking care of their infant son James. "The thing is, my sister died from SIDS when I was five," Amber shared. “She was an infant just like him. And it’s really scary for us. And I just feel like I want to be the one watching him.”

"It was hard," Amber continued. "I remember watching them bringing her out on a stretcher. It’s one of the worst things that I’ve ever really seen in my life." That is truly unimaginable. We're so sorry Amber had to go through that.

Amber previously opened up on her postpartum depression, a struggle she's also faced with having children. "It went from taking care of James so amazingly to one night I had to give him to Andrew," she explained in a recent Teen Mom OG reunion show. "I couldn’t, I don’t know what happened. I’ve never felt anything like it, I never felt like that with Leah. It started feeling like a weird pressure, like I could explode."

There are many factors of Amber's life which clearly cause her distress, so we're very happy she has the support of Andrew and friends like co-star Catelynn Lowell by her side.
