'Teen Mom 2's Chelsea Houksa Says She Had 'Severe' Postpartum Anxiety After Giving Birth
By Olivia Montine

When it comes to reality TV, it's easy to watch shows and assume that things are as perfect for the people in it in real life as they are on the screen. However, Teen Mom 2's Chelsea Houksa is an example of someone going through a lot off-screen, even though her on-screen life seems great.
Rising to fame in 2011 as part of the Teen Mom 2 cast, Chelsea Houska and ex Adam Lind share Houska's oldest child, Aubree. In 2014, Houska's now-husband Cole was brought into the picture, with whom she shares two younger children--Watson and Layne.
After having Watson in 2017, Houska suffered from severe postpartum anxiety as she said in an Instagram comment last week.

While she was out celebrating Valentine's Day early with husband Cole, a user commented on a sweet picture that her husband had shared. They asked why Houska's supportive family did not babysit so that the couple could have dates more often.
Houska's response was honest, and brought up a topic that does not get enough attention: the mental stress that having a new child puts on mothers.
Houska said to the user, “After giving birth, I personally go through a period of what I would say is pretty severe postpartum anxiety. (It was by far the worst after having Watson.) … For me, leaving them to go out just causes a lot of stress and anxiety.”
Houska's anxiety is very common and completely understandable. We're glad she's using her platform to shed light on the subject!
