James Gunn's first DC Extended Universe project, The Suicide Squad, has reportedly just made an interesting casting decision. In a role that has not yet been announced, Deadline says that the sequel is bringing on on Marvel actor and director Taika Waititi, best known in the MCU for helming Thor: Ragnarok.

Previously, Gunn was fired from Marvel Studios after it was assumed he'd be directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, for years-old tweets about pedophilia, among other sensitive topics. Disney quickly fired Gunn only a day after the original story of the past tweets resurfaced. The director later released a statement apologizing, and after being scooped up by DC, he was rehired for Guardians 3.

The Suicide Squad has reportedly casted several high-profile actors, such as Nathan Fillion, Idris Elba, and Storm Reid. Their most recent reported addition, Waititi, comes as a surprise mainly because he has previously only been involved in MCU projects.

If Waititi is indeed in The Suicide Squad, we're excited to see what he brings to the table!
