Taika Waititi Has Perfect Response to James Gunn's Rehiring for 'Guardians of the Galaxy 3'
By Kwadar Ray

Disney shocked the world Friday when the media conglomerate confirmed that James Gunn is back on board to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Gunn was fired last July after some of his old, disturbing tweets resurfaced. After his firing, there were a plethora of rumored replacements for the job, but none bigger than Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
Waititi would have certainly been a viable replacement, but Disney apparently never got to the point of considering another director besides Gunn. Yet rumors still persisted, even though Waititi went on the record not only saying he didn't want to direct the film, but also to defend Gunn.

Now that Gunn is officially back on board, Waititi is making light of the rumors. Tweeting a link to the Deadline article that broke the news, the director hilariously tweeted, "What the hell?? I thought I was going to do it!!"

Though the tweet was clearly sarcasm, some fans aren't opposed to the idea of Waititi and Gunn teaming up to direct the upcoming Guardians movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will not begin shooting until Gunn is finished filming DC's Suicide Squad sequel.
