If this year, filled with highly-anticipated movies like Avengers: Endgame and shows such as Stranger Things, has proved anything at all, it’s that people get seriously angry when you spoil things for them. And rightfully so. But sometimes, that no-spoiling rule can really go on forever, and it’s just not fair to expect people to not talk about something so major. So hopefully this new survey will put things in perspective.

CBR reports that a new survey by musicMagpie has been conducted with 2,000 U.K. residents aged 16 and older, asking when the appropriate time is to spill the tea about newly-released movies and TV shows.

The answer? 33 hours after a TV episode airs, and 10 days after a film is released.

What is unclear, however, is how long folks are supposed to wait after the release of a series’ entire season, such as Netflix originals like Orange is the New Black. The survey doesn’t apply for everything we watch, but at least we have some solid spoiler etiquette for most TV shows and films.
