One Season 4 Stranger Things theory might turn things upside down for Nancy and Steve.

The upcoming season of the Netflix original is still out of reach, with COVID-19 safety concerns putting a pause to most major productions, meaning the release date for new episodes is still unknown. But while we wait, quarantine time has freed up time to explore possible Season 4 plot points, and Cinema Blend poses a pretty juicy idea.

The publication is theorizing that Steve and Nancy could be getting back together. While some fans may not see it coming, the idea is not that far-fetched. With Jonathan and his family moving to a new town, who knows what long distance relationship will look like? Good ole Steve is still in Hawkins, and we're not in Season 1 anymore. All the drama the exes faced as high school lovers may just not carry as much weight these days. As CinemaBlend see it, what carries more weight is that these two have been through some pretty unique, traumatic experiences together. Most notably, they've grown up a lot during their time apart.

As for what we definitely know about next season, the first teaser revealed that David Harbour's character, Jim Hopper, is still in face alive. Knowing this, we can now relax about some of the bigger concerns and focus on other "what could be" scenarios, including which characters might have heart eyes for each other.

For a Stranger Things theory, this one is not totally unrealistic, but would fans ship Steve and Nancy back together? That's what really matters, after all.
