In the wake of his success as an actor, which includes roles in Netflix's hit sci-fi drama Stranger Things and Stephanie Mayer's Twilight saga movies, Jamie Campbell Bower got candid about his struggles with addiction and mental health.

The actor not only gave fans an update on his sobriety, he's also now offering up some powerful words of encouragement to others still suffering with either ailment.

"12 and a half years ago I was in active addiction. Hurting myself and those around me who I loved the most," the British actor tweeted, adding, "It got so bad that eventually, I ended up in a hospital for mental health. I am now 7 1/2 years clean and sober. I have made many mistakes in my life."

Bower, 33, who portrays the terrifying "Vecna" in the Duffer brothers series, went on to share how he's in a much better place in his life, both personally and professionally, and that it's all thanks to him maintaining his sobriety.

"But each day is a chance to start again. Atone for mistakes and grow," he shared before directing his words to people who are in the clutches of addiction.

"For anyone who wakes up thinking 'oh god not again' I promise you there's a way. I'm so grateful to be where I am, I'm so grateful to be sober. I'm so grateful to be. Remember, we are all works in progress J x," he tweeted in the follow-up post.
