'Star Wars: The Mandalorian' Disney+ Series Could Lead to a Movie

Even with only one episode released thus far, Star Wars’ first live-action series on Disney+, The Mandalorian, is proving to be a substantial edition to the franchise. Fans are already wondering if the characters will only be available to watch on the small screen, or if we will one day see them in a feature film.
CBR reports that Variety recently caught up with Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Alan Horn about the launch of Disney+ and asked him if we can expect to see the lawless bounty hunter, played by Pedro Pascal, on the silver screen. Horn responded optimistically, “The Mandalorian is already proving to be a big thing, so if that series proves to be so compelling that we reverse engineer it into a theatrical release, a two-hour film or whatever, okay.”
The new series is set in the time after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, but well before The Force Awakens and the emergence of the First Order. At this point, the remnants of the Empire are trying to survive. According to the official description, the Mandalorian is a "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."
With the second episode being released Friday, Nov. 15, fans can only hope that the popularity of the show continues to grow, and that perhaps one day it leads to another blockbuster movie.
