'Star Wars' Fan Thinks They See Subliminal Darth Vader Image in 'The Last Jedi' Snoke Scene
By Hannah Wigandt

The amount of fan theories surrounding the Star Wars franchise is so crazy that you could easily get lost between fact and fiction. But that doesn't stop people from coming up with more and more ideas about one of their favorite cinematic universes. Some theories are just so bizarre and obscure, however, one can't help but wonder how people have the patience to pick apart every little detail of these movies.
The latest news on the fan theory front, coming from ComicBook.com, is that there is apparently a reference to Darth Vader in The Last Jedi, which is actually kinda creepy.
In The Last Jedi, there's a scene where Snoke is talking to General Hux through a hologram with his face huge and menacing, and Redditor thecircularblue thinks that there is a subliminal image of Darth Vader's face on top of Snoke. Their faces match up, surprisingly, and the fan went as far as sketching out diagrams to prove his point.
“There's an image of Darth Vader mixed with Snoke during his interaction with General Hux on the Star Destroyer bridge,” the Redditor wrote in r/starwarsspeculation. “Vader's mask even sits correctly the way it would fit on Snoke's face. The glint in Snoke's eye show's where his eye would be behind the mask's lens. Not only that, but said glint, in addition to the rectangular ceiling light, shows where light would be reflecting off of the lens. It's akin to when Vader is fed up with Admiral Ozzel in The Empire Strikes Back, being that a leading dark side Force-user is castigating a subordinate officer. The images show how to see it (or the easy way by using the curve of your hand to cover Snoke's face, from the left, up to his nose). It's either a cool coincidence or intentional.”
If this was intentional, it wouldn't be the first time fans have found a glimpse of subliminal Darth Vader images. There is at least one distinct image of the sith lord in Attack of the Clones.
We'll see if there are any others in the newest installment, Episode IX, when it hits theaters Dec. 20, 2019.
