'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Features MCU's First Trans Actors

Marvel fans were delighted this week when the first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home dropped. And thankfully, the clip is actually pretty substantial at over two minutes long, and it gives us tons of clues as to what to expect when Tom Holland plays our favorite Queens-based superhero come summertime.

While most fans were excited to see Jake Gyllenhaal's debut as villain Mysterio in the trailer, some were quick to point out the first trans actors represented in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, who are both seen in the teaser. "Not only that, but we have two trans actors playing students as well, one of which is a black man. ffh is going to be a diverse masterpiece,” @spideystights wrote in the replies section of a tweet about there being a Muslim woman in the film.

After these claims on social media, Comic Book did a deep dig and found from Advocate the names of Zach Barack and Tyler Luke Cunningham—two trans actors who in fact will be in Far From Home. Barack will play a friend of Peter Parker's, while Cunningham is listed as an extra.

Barack, who just recently shared the Far From Home trailer to his Instagram page, cleverly writing, "Anyone else dying to see this movie???," is an actor, singer, and comedian from Chicago. He currently has over 5,000 followers on his page, but we're sure he'll at least double that number by the time the film premieres.

Less is known about Cunningham, however he had a recurring role on TV series Boy Meets Girl, and his Instagram page says he's an actor, singer, dancer, teacher, and traveler. His account currently has just over 1,000 followers, and similarly to Barack, we'll sure he'll gain much more attention from the film.

We hope to see more representation like this across the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters on July 5.
