Sophie Turner has decided to hang up her fierce fur cape for good.

The 23-year-old British actress stated in an interview with Sky News that reviving the role of Sansa Stark, the newly-crowned Queen in the North in the final episode of Game of Thrones, would “just be more trauma.”

Turner said this with her classic, sarcastic smile that we have all come to adore, making fans wonder if she was lightening up the brutality Sansa and her peers had to go through throughout the show, or referencing the real-life struggles the actress herself has endured.

Turner opened up last month on Dr. Phil’s podcast, Phil in the Blanks, about her struggle with mental health, and how internet trolls affected her confidence. She stated that trolls’ comments about her weight, skin, and acting skills made her doubt everything she was doing. "I just would cry and cry and cry over just getting changed and putting on clothes and be like, 'I can’t do this. I can’t go outside. I have nothing that I want to do,'" she recalled.

Turner revealed that she is feeling much healthier after getting therapy and being in a loving relationship with pop star Joe Jonas, who she recently married in a surprise (yet premeditated) Vegas wedding.

But critical fans are not the only reason Turner has decided to lay the Game of Thrones character to rest. She feels very at peace with the way the show ended, despite the backlash from fans. "I think my watch has ended. It's been 10 years of my life and the best 10 years of my life by far," she stated.

Though Turner will not be appearing in the confirmed prequel starring Naomi Watts set in the golden Age of Heroes, or in any of the three successor shows George R.R. Martin has said are in the works, this will not be the last we see of this rising star. She is starring as another strong female character, Jean Grey, in the X-Men film Dark Phoenix, set to release June 7.

Turner concluded her interview by saying, “I finished in a very happy place with Sansa and it's time to let her go.” Though Game of Thrones fans might not be ready to do the same, it is certain that the actress that brought Lady Stark to life is well on her way to a bright career.
