X-Men: Dark Phoenix premieres this weekend, giving fans the opportunity to see the epic conclusion to Fox’s decades-long X-Men franchise. Playing heavily into the movie will be Sophie Turner, whose character, Jean Grey, will pose a threat to her friends as the titular Dark Phoenix. Behind the scenes, shooting was quite emotional for Turner as well--particularly in one moment, when the actress apparently cried when someone took away her Juul.

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! featuring the cast of Dark Phoenix, Turner’s co-star Jennifer Lawrence explained that the event happened, conveniently, just as they were shooting a climactic scene--which we’re choosing to leave omitted here, as it’s a spoiler for the film.

“Her reaction to [the scene] was so raw. It was so honest and real and it's because she really was crying,” Lawrence said, according to BuzzFeed. Promptly, she explained that Turner’s reaction was because “Her dialect coach, right before the take, took her Juul away. She started genuinely tearing up. It was like, the performance of the year.”

“It's how to act,” Turner quipped, not denying Lawrence’s account. "Take it away and then you give it back and that's happy and sad.”

Turner and her Juul, BuzzFeed notes, are inseparable. She’s been spotted using it at social events with husband Joe Jonas, at hockey games while sipping on a glass of wine, and on the set of Game of Thrones during a pause between takes. And, if Lawrence’s testimony is to believed, she doesn’t take very kindly to having it taken away.

We love all of Turner’s performances, and if that requires her to channel her emotions through her Juul, that’s fine by us. We’re excited to see her tear-jerking scene in Dark Phoenix when it hits theaters on June 7.
