Shawn Mendes Forced to Apologize After Accidentally Liking Transphobic Tweet

You don't have to be a Shawn Mendes superfan to know he's probably the sweetest guy out there. The singer reeks of the classic boy-next-door vibe and his smile could melt even the coldest of hearts. For his fans, he's like this sweet innocent creature you just want to protect from all the bad things in the world. So when you read that Shawn liked a transphobic tweet, you know it just can't be true.
Mendes has a very active Twitter account and he likes a lot of things, so it's not hard to believe he accidentally hit a wrong button. The 20-year-old singer was quick to unlike the tweet and start apologizing right away, after his fans started an uproar about it.
What the tweet actually said is unknown, but from what Narcity states, it involved something about his friend and co-songwriter Teddy Geiger, who is very open about being transgender.
After fans started to scold him, Mendes tweeted out an apology.

The whole thing was just obviously a big misunderstanding and should be forgotten about... like now.
