Selena Gomez is All Smiles in First Public Sighting After Hospitalization

Selena Gomez was hospitalized twice in October for a low white blood cell count, a common side effect for patients who receive kidney transplants. During the second visit, the 26-year-old suffered a panic attack and decided to head to a treatment center on the East Coast.

Sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Gomez has now returned home.

“She’s feeling much better and looking forward to getting back to normalcy,” the source said. “She’s spending time with friends and family.”

Fans can check out Selena hanging with friends on a sunny winter day thanks to pictures posted to Instagram by her friends Bailee Madison and Connar Franklin.

Selena seems happy and all smiles in the photos that were taken while the group went snow tubing.

Last year, Selena underwent a kidney transplant due to her ongoing battle with lupus. After her breakdown, she decided to undergo dialectical behavior therapy, which is designed to identify and change negative thinking and behavioral patterns.

News of her decision to enter a treatment center broke only a few weeks after she announced that she would be taking a break from social media back in September.

Selena is among a number of celebs who have been open about their struggles with mental health.

“I’ve had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety, and I’ve been very vocal about it, but it’s not something I feel I’ll ever overcome,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “There won’t be a day when I’m like, ‘Here I am in a pretty dress — I won!’ I think it’s a battle I’m gonna have to face for the rest of my life, and I’m okay with that because I know that I’m choosing myself over anything else.”

We're glad Selena seems to be in a better place today.
