Samuel L. Jackson is retracting his earlier statement that Captain Marvel could travel in time. The actor says he made it up when he gave the statement earlier this year, which led fans to believe the power was how she would help the Avengers kill Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.

When we last saw Nick Fury in Avengers: Infinity War, his final moments were of him sending a message on a pager to Captain Marvel. So naturally, all the Marvel fans in the world thought that we would get to see Captain Marvel in Endgame.

Captain Marvel is set in 1995, and shows us a younger Nick Fury, even without his eye patch. What Jackson said would have make perfect sense, especially with that last scene he had in Infinity War.

This was until Jackson confessed his lie with KROQ. "We were just blowing smoke," he claimed. "It was actually a mistake, we were tired, end of the day, they had a bunch of people on set... They bring reporters to set and you're working all day and they want you to stop in the middle of the day and go talk to a table full of people for nor reason. It's like, "really?""

So basically, all fan theories about this alleged power have now just be extinguished. Unless Jackson is just backtracking because he gave something too good away? All we do know right now is that Captain Marvel will fight against Thanos, but why Fury thought she was the one to do it is still a mystery. We'll hopefully get more information when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8.
