With next week’s Spider-Man: Far From Home capping off Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are beginning to turn their eyes to the enigmatic new projects poised to appear in Phase 4. Among these films is believed to be The Eternals, which, as of yet, is shrouded in mystery--although this week, the film came into the public eye, as it's been reported Salma Hayek is being eyed for a role.

According to TheWrap, a source said that Hayek was being serious considered for a role in the film, which is directed by Chloé Zhao and has reportedly cast Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden in lead roles. Meanwhile, Kumail Nanjiani has also reportedly been in talks for the film. None of the actors have been confirmed by Marvel Studios.

The Eternals revolves around an eponymous race of superhumans created by the cosmic entities the Celestials, who have made brief appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.  However, it is unclear how closely the film will adapt the property or its storylines.

With this report, Hayek would be joining a long list of prestigious actors making appearances in the once-small Marvel franchise, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Glenn Close, and Kurt Russell.

We’re excited to see whether Hayek will actually make it into the film or not--and we’ll keep our ear to the ground for any more information about The Eternals.
