It looks like Joaquin Phoenix might have a new role on the horizon to embrace following Joker's worldwide success. After his incredible portrayal of Arthur Fleck, rumors are circulating that Disney has their eye on the Academy Award nominee for the part of an iconic villain.

According to CBR, talk is brewing that Phoenix is wanted as the next Captain Hook in a new live-action adaptation of Peter Pan and Wendy. They site The Illuminerdi, who also reports that Margot Robbie is being offered the part of Wendy. The Oscar nominee stars in Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), out in theaters tomorrow.

For fans who love remakes, Peter Pan and Wendy is one of many exciting projects coming up in the Disney world. Mulan, directed by Niki Caro, is due to open in theaters on March 27, 2020, and The Little Mermaid is set to come out in 2021. Despite Phoenix and Robbie's involvement simply just talk as of now, this is a very exciting time for fans who grew up on the Disney classics and now want to relive the memory as adults.
