'Riverdale' Star Lili Reinhart Announces Break From Twitter After 'Toxic' Bullying
By Jennifer Fabiano

Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart has spoken out about the positives and negatives of social media before, but this time she’s putting her foot down.
In a series of Instagram Stories on Monday, Reinhart announced that she is temporarily removing herself from the Twittersphere, where she apparently receives a lot of hate.
"Do people on Twitter ever get tired of being so negative and disrespectful to literally everyone and everything? Are they really that miserable? There's hate everywhere. But especially on Twitter. It's like a cesspool for evil 15-year-olds who don't know what the hell they're talking about and have nothing better to do," she wrote. "Taking a break from that toxic site and the people on it who feel the need to attack me, my cast mates, my relationship and Riverdale."
She finished with one final message for the haters:
The 22-year-old actress is keeping her social media use to Instagram and Tumblr. Her Twitter account is still active, but she’s made it pretty clear that she won’t be logging on anytime soon.
Lili and her boyfriend Cole Sprouse both had their Twitter accounts hacked earlier this year. The hacker posted inappropriate messages as well as a fake nude photo to Lili’s account.
Lili didn't stay quiet during that situation, either.
Reinhart spoke about the impact of social media earlier this year when she was honored at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event.
“As actors, musicians and people with a platform, we are so often called upon to be good role models and to set a good example," Reinhart said in her acceptance speech. "With the expectation of being perfect idols, our mistakes are often amplified, our choices are criticized, and our words are scrutinized. That notion scared me for the longest time, because I know I am not perfect, and I knew I was never going to live up to that perfect expectation. So, I wanted to present myself to the world without a filter, and that meant being honest about my own insecurities, my own shortcomings and my own mistakes."
It's probably best for Lili to take this much-needed time away from the haters.
