Anyone who follows Rihanna knows the singer hasn't been on good terms with her father, but a new report by The Blast shows the relationship just took a turn for the worst. The report states Rihanna filed a lawsuit in which she claimed her dad is trying to exploit her name in order to get rich.
The lawsuit was filed against Ronald Fenty and a company called Fenty Entertainment. The singer claimed her father and his business partner, a man named Moses Perkin, created an entertainment company and have been using it to solicit business while acting as agents of Rihanna.
Rihanna asserted that she is in no way a part of Fenty Entertainment. “Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf,” the report reads.
One booking by her father was a $15 million tour in Latin America and two concerts at Staples Center in Los Angeles and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for $400,000. Rihanna claims to have no part in either booking.
The report also states Ronald claimed he ran the business offers by Roc Nation, the label to which Rihanna is actually signed. The 30-year-old singer claims no one at Roc Nation was made aware of the business Ronald was conducting.
In 2018, Ronald attempted to trademark the phrase “Fenty” for a line of boutique hotels but was rejected by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
The singer claims she sent numerous cease and desist letters to her father and Perkin, but was forced to file a lawsuit given their neglect to stop.
Years ago, Rihanna discussed the strained relationship she's had with her father, and even revealed she has seen him abuse her mother.
