Proactiv Forced to Defend Kendall Jenner as Backlash Continues

Kendall Jenner is no stranger to backlash following products she's advertised, especially thanks to the controversial Pepsi commercial she appeared in back in April 2017. And when Kendall announced earlier this month she will be partnering with Proactiv, the internet called her out for being dramatic, and many even disputed the claim she ever used the product to help her skin.

Kendall hasn’t addressed these claims directly, but now Proactiv is sticking up for the 22-year-old model, as people continue to bash her.

“We went through an extensive process with [Kendall Jenner] before the contract was signed where she used the product, commented on her results, collaborated with us and made sure that this was a product that worked for her,” Marc Kravets, the general manager of Proactiv, told WWD.

While Kendall has used other products and dermatologists, the celeb credits Proactiv as actually working for her.

"What she told us is that she tried everything and she got some short-term results and then got the problem back," Kravets said.

Despite the backlash, Kravets revealed the campaign seems to be working well for the company. “For the first full week of our relationship with Kendall, our new subscribers, one of our key metrics, were up 30 percent year-over-year for the first week of the campaign,” he shared.

Kendall also received backlash due to momager Kris Jenner’s Instagram post, in which she congratulated her daughter “for being so brave and vulnerable.”

“We do have to agree on anything that’s posted,” Kravets continued, explaining Kris’s controversial post was actually approved by the brand. “Everything has to be cleared so we do coordinate on all communications, together with the family.”

Due to the partnership's success, it’s no surprise Proactiv has no intentions of slowing down the advertising campaign. We’re glad we’ll get to hear more inspiring stories from Kendall, who is dedicated to opening up a positive dialogue on acne.
