Following the massively successful release of Avengers: Endgame, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been radically changed, with some characters making their departures and others returning following their deaths in Avengers: Infinity War. Now, attention is turning to upcoming films including Spider-Man: Far From Home, Black Widow and Doctor Strange 2, a few of the next installments in the franchise--and most recently, new details about Doctor Strange 2 have possibly emerged.

According to BGR, details from previous Avengers: Endgame leaker @RogerWardell describes Doctor Strange 2 as a “1980s Boogaloo” that marks the reappearance of The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and newcomers Jericho Drumm and Clea. “Most importantly,” @RogerWardell adds, “the gloves will be back.”

Though Swinton’s Ancient One died during the original Doctor Strange, she reappeared in a time travel sequence in Avengers: Endgame, possibly suggesting that the film will see Doctor Strange travelling back in time--which would mesh well with the “1980s Boogaloo” rumor.

Jericho Drumm and Clea are characters who have played heavily into Doctor Strange comic books. While Drumm is a voodoo-practicing sorcerer who briefly takes up the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme from Dr. Strange, Clea is Strange’s perennial ally and lover. According to the leak, Clea will be likely portrayed by an actress of Asian descent--an interesting follow-up to the controversy over the casting of Swinton, a white woman, as a character who was originally Tibetan.

The authenticity of the leak is not fully clear, though, according to BGR, the same user had previously leaked details of Avengers: Endgame that proved to be correct.

We’re not quite certain about whether these leaks will prove to be absolutely correct or not, considering how little is known so far--but regardless, we’ll be excited to see Doctor Strange 2 when it hits theaters.
