Petition to Save 'Daredevil' Goes Viral After Star Vincent D'Onofrio Shares it on Twitter

After fans were hopeful it escaped Netflix's cancellations of Marvel shows in October, Daredevil was sadly cancelled just a month later. The series, which lasted just three seasons, was a critical success, but reportedly lacked the desired viewership.

Still, the cancellation caught plenty by surprise, including some of the series' stars.

"A lot of us really expected to keep going, and I certainly did," Charlie Cox, who played the show's title character, said in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. "The truth is, I felt like we had a lot of stories to tell, and... I'm very saddened by that. It's just how business works. But also, these characters mean a lot to people."

Cox's co-star, Vincent D'Onofrio, who played the Kingpin in the series, was likely surprised by the cancellation, too. The actor denied the show was going to be cancelled in October on Twitter, but obviously his prediction was incorrect.

Now, D'Onofrio is once again using social media to show support for the series, this time by retweeting multiple posts supporting the #SaveDaredevil movement. He also tweeted a link to the movement's website, which features a Change.org petition urging Netflix to renew the show.

The petition had about 33,000 signatures on Friday, and as of Sunday afternoon, it has nearly tripled with over 88,000 signatures.

The petition's goal is to reach 150,000 signatures, and if this rate keeps up, it will eclipse that. The question would then become, will Netflix take the fans into consideration?

Some aren't confident the streaming service will.

Nevertheless, D'Onofrio's full-fledged support goes a long way for the #SaveDaredevil movement.
