By Olivia Montine

With the passing of beloved Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, who played the role of Princess Leia and became one of the most well known actresses in both the franchise and cinematic history, many fans have wondered how Leia's role would be treated in the upcoming Episode IX.
Actor Oscar Isaac, who portrays Poe Dameron in the films, recently said that integral scenes exploring Leia and Poe's relationship will be included in the new movie. This comes after director J.J. Abrams revealed that unseen scenes Fisher had filmed before her unexpected death in Dec. 2016 would be used in the film.

“I wasn’t surprised because I remember we were doing that, we worked a lot,” Isaac said of the director's decision to use the footage in an interview on Sirius XM. “[Fisher] and I worked together so much. We would talk about the scenes, and we got very tight during the shooting of that. So it was a beautiful thing to see, and it gets carried over into the new film as well.”
The scenes should hopefully give fans a chance to bid farewell to both Fisher and her beloved character, and Isaac said her inclusion gives both the actress and Leia "a proper place of honor.”
Fans will have to wait and see what the scenes hold when Episode IX comes out in December.
