Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are trading in the Seven Kingdoms for a galaxy far far away, as it's been confirmed they are taking on one of the most famous franchises in Hollywood very soon. The duo will be working on the next Star Wars trilogy.

After The Rise of Skywalker closes out the Skywalker saga this December, Benioff and Weiss will take on the future of Star Wars for Lucasfilm.

Io9 reports that CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, has confirmed the rumors, “that the next Star Wars film following The Rise of Skywalker will be from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, coming in 2022.”

There's been no confirmation of the premise of the series, but there has been some speculation that the films will be set during the Old Republic, years before the Skywalker saga.

While Game of Thrones has been extremely successful, this final season has fans nervous about the duo taking on Star Wars. But at the end of the day, you can't please anyone. We're still looking forward to what Benioff and Weiss bring to the franchise.
