New 'Game of Thrones' Theory Pits Arya Against Viserion

As Game of Thrones fans will know, we've been given next to nothing regarding Season 8, as it should be with something this highly anticipated. But HBO has recently given fans a crumb, in the form of a scene from the upcoming season in a 2019 teaser for the network.

The scene in question is of course only about two seconds, but fans' imaginations have run wild with the short clip nonetheless. In the clip, we see Arya Stark looking up and at the dragon Drogon and smiling. This one scene, expectedly, has sparked some new fan theories.

According to Reddit user u/blairacton, the new clip and Arya's reunion with her brother Bran has sparked an interesting idea.

In Season 7 Episode 4, Bran is seen giving Arya a Valyrian steel dagger. Could it be just a coincidence, due to the fact that Bran knows Arya has become a little fighting machine, or could it be for something more specific?

The Redditor thinks that Bran is sad, almost as if he knows what the dagger will be used for. But while this is interesting, we've only seen Bran go back in time, so there's no real proof that he could've gone into the future to see how she uses the dagger.

We also know Valyrian steel can kill White Walkers, but we don't know if it can kill the dragon Viserion. The Redditor thinks that Arya will die trying to kill Viserion using the dagger, because she seemed so interested in her reaction to Drogon in the clip.

"I think Arya is too major of a character to just die to a regular wight or regular white walker," the Redditor explains, adding, "and if the Night King is going to die, Jon will be the one killing him, so that leads me to believe she will take down Viserion and die in the process."

The connection does seem a little far fetched, but the part about the dagger could be true. At least we know Arya has it, and that we will definitely be seeing her use it on a person or creature come Season 8. GoT returns on April 14.
