Netflix's New Horror Film 'The Silence' Has Fans Seeing 'A Quiet Place' and 'Bird Box' Crossover

When it was first announced Netflix's newest horror flick, The Silence, was debuting, fans found the synopsis a bit too familiar. As the streaming service describes it, the upcoming movie goes like this:

"When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven. But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Ally’s heightened senses."

Sounds just like A Quiet Place, right? Of course, many online were quick to call it a rip-off of the 2018 film by John Krasinski, however it was then discovered that The Silence is actually based on the 2015 novel by Tim Lebbon of the same name. And now that Netflix has debuted the first trailer today, fans are seeing another film in it well. Watch the first preview below.

If you're thinking this movie looks pretty similar to Netflix's 2018 film Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock, you're not alone. The YouTube comments section alone has blown up with remarks such as, "Like if Quiet Place and Bird Box had a movie baby," "This is literally like Bird Box without the blindfolds," and "So are these 'silent horror' movies on trend now??"

We have to admit, The Silence does look very similar to both the popular films mentioned, but it must mean this horror genre is favorable to many fans if they keep making them. Plus, the fact that this movie stars Kiernan Shipka and Stanley Tucci has me sold already.

The Silence debuts on Netflix April 10.
