It's the Avengers: Endgame theory that's sweeping the internet: Ant-Man defeating Thanos through an unorthodox tactic. The theory--which dates back to 2017--sees Scott Lang defeating the Mad Titan by utilizing his shrinking ability to enter Thanos' rectum, and proceeding to enlarge himself, thus ripping apart the villain from the inside.

While it's definitely an outlandish meme, it has picked up tons of traction not just by fans, but by Marvel actors and directors as well. Josh Brolin, who plays Thanos in the MCU, paid homage to the meme by posting a video on Instagram of him straining on the toilet, seemingly as an attempt to push Ant-Man out.

The theory reached new heights when Endgame's directors, the Russo Brothers, responded to the meme in their own unique way. The duo responded to the theory by changing their Instagram profile photo last week.

The new profile picture shows a purple Venn diagram, with the left side being labeled "Thanos' left butt cheek" and the right "Thanos' right butt cheek," while an image of Ant-Man is in the middle.

Now, the science world is commenting on the theory and if it's a realistic way for the Avengers to defeat Thanos. Biophysicist Alex Kotz recently explained that the theory is scientifically sound, comparing it to what happens when a full bottle of water freezes.

"The basic situation here is one of constrained expansion," Klotz explained. "The pressure inside the container will increase until the water turns into an exotic higher-density phase of ice."

Now, one of the world's most famous scientists is weighing in on the topic. On an episode of Neil deGrasse Tyson's StarTalk podcast, comedian Chuck Nice asked Tyson about the theory.

"First, that's nasty because if Thanos is as powerful and as evil as he is, he's going to have powerful, evil poop," Tyson stated. "I would not want to find myself in that environment, but second, why not put something else in there that expands? Why does it have to be your own self?"

The fact that the Ant-Man-Thanos meme has gone this far is incredible, and it really shows the influence that fan theories have, even if they're NSFW.

Avengers: Endgame is set for an April 26 theatrical release.
