Fans first fell in love with Milo Ventimiglia in roles like Jess in Gilmore Girls and Peter Petrelli in Heroes. Since then, the heartthrob has received more stardom for his role as Jack Pearson on This is Us, also earning him three Emmy nominations. But the actor's popularity and talent clearly doesn't mean he can land any role he sets his sights on.

Ventimiglia explained on Variety's podcast The Big Ticket that he hoped to be the next Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Matt Reeves film The Batman, but Warner Bros. had other ideas, CinemaBlend reports.

He recalled, “Do I see myself in a cape and cowl? Warner Bros. didn’t… They were looking for a new Batman, and they said, 'Ventimiglia, you're too old.'”

The 42-year-old actor is just a few years younger than the previous Caped Crusader, Ben Affleck. However, Reeves' upcoming film will focus on a younger version of the classic DC superhero, meaning Ventimiglia just didn't fit. They eventually went with 33-year-old Robert Pattinson for the role.

Does Ventimiglia have hard feelings about it? Not at all. He continued in the interview, “It’s okay. It doesn’t matter. By the way, I’m kind of busy, it's okay. And I'm [still] a fan. I've always been a fan of Batman.”

We'll see how Pattinson puts his spin on the iconic role when The Batman hits theaters June 25, 2021.
