Michael B. Jordan Wants to Play DC's Calvin Ellis Instead of Superman

Michael B. Jordan has sadly just squashed fan's hope that he will take up the role as Superman in a possible reboot. Since Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill is rumored to be leaving the franchise, fans have been very vocal on their lists of actors they think should replace him. And with Jordan's ever-growing popularity, many were quick to add him as a candidate.

That all changed, however, when Jordan spoke to Oprah Winfrey and denounced the rumors he would be stepping in. Jordan went as far to say that he wouldn't even like playing the superhero, but instead wants to play Calvin Ellis, a more modern Superman from Earth-23 modeled after a combination of Barack Obama and Muhammad Ali.

According to ComicBook.com, the alternate universe Superman pretty much has the same storyline but just a little different, especially because Ellis becomes president.

"It's tough. I hate being a business man and understanding both sides of the situation," Jordan told Winfrey. "There is a huge upside to it, but being under that microscope, being picked apart and compared to so many different versions of Superman... I would rather do something original. I'll be Calvin Ellis."

Since Ellis is black, Jordan added that comic book lovers would have a better time if he played this other Superman instead of the original one.

"There's another version of Superman in another dimension that is black already in the comic books. That exists," he said. "I think the comic book purists would accept that more than me being Clark Kent from Kansas."

DC, cast Jordan as Calvin Ellis like, now.
