Maya Hawke is Going Through 'Five Stages of Grief' as She's Quarantined and 'Stranger Things' Season 4 is on Hold

If you've been having a tough time digesting the fact Stranger Things has been put on hold, Maya Hawke is right there with you. The daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman plays the role of Robin Buckley in the Netflix thriller series, and is admittedly down in the dumps with the interruption of life due to COVID-19.
Hawke spoke to Nylon about her quarantine woes, and she didn't hold back on sharing the depths of her feelings. "I’m in mourning for my life," Hawke tells the publication. "That’s a joke. I’m fine. I’m very fortunate. But totally depressed and confused."
Hawke has been quarantined with her parents in New York, which she admits feels like taking a step back into her childhood. The situation she's found herself in, with Stranger Things stopped and no longer living on her own, obviously isn't easy. "I’m going through the five stages of grief with it,” she says. “I was angry about it. I was in denial. And then I was bargaining: I’m going to fix it! And now I’m in resignation or whatever. I’m just sort of like, this is my new forever."

Stranger Things was in the midst of filming Season 4 when production came to a sudden halt due to safety concerns surrounding the pandemic. Nylon explains, "One day during shooting, the cast were called together and a dramatic announcement was made. Production would freeze at the end of the day and the actors would be sent home for quarantine." And while there's no date determined for production to kick back into gear, the cast is sure they will resume filming once it's safe again.
"We’re ready to get back to work as soon as this is all over," Millie Bobby Brown said during a virtual appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. For the sake of Hawke's mental health (and our own!) hopefully that day is sooner than later.
