Marvel's 'The New Mutants' Might Debut on Disney+

Since the recent Disney/Fox deals have come about, many fans have been wondering which Fox franchises would make it over to Disney. Even though the deals are not final yet, fans are expecting to see Fox franchise X-Men to enter into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So some Fox projects, including movie The New Mutants, have been waiting in the wings, while they sort out the legal issues.

The New Mutants has been left hanging since its production during the deal discussions, but now rumors are starting that the movie could be sent to Disney+ instead of a theatrical release.

The movie could go to the new streaming service as early as later this year, and while not everyone is happy about this probable outcome, The Hollywood Reporter did claim The New Mutants coming out on Disney+ is a "safe bet."

THR also reported that the movie could have been sent to Hulu as well, but X-Men producer, Lauren Shuler Donner, shot down that idea.

“They worked hard on it,” Shuler Donner said at a Television Critics Association panel. “I want to see it released (theatrically), I’d hate to see it thrown at Hulu.”

Along with The New Mutants, with a current premiere date of Aug. 2, Fox also has film Dark Phoenix out this year, which will see a theatrical release on June 7.
