Amazon released the first clip from Lena Dunham's upcoming Catherine, Called Birdy adaptation on Wednesday, May 18.

The preview features star Bella Ramsey, 18, who plays the title character as she gets up to mischief in the English village of Stonebridge in the year 1290.

The historical YA adaptation, which is set for a September 23 theatrical release, also features Fleabag and Sherlock actor Andrew Scott in the clip as Catherine's father, Lord Rollo.

The film, based on the classic children's novel of the same name by Karen Cushman, follows Birdy as her family becomes nearly destitute after her father loses most of his fortune.

He and her mother Lady Aislinn (Billie Piper) try to marry their daughter off to various wealthy suitors in hopes of reviving their fortune, but she puts her resourcefulness to the test as she tries to scare off the older men.

Ramsey narrates the opening of the breathless clip as she introduces herself and sets the stage.
