Leave it to the internet to turn “Rise and Shine” to a dark and stormy matter. This week, rumors began circulating that Kylie Jenner was sending out cease and desist letters to companies who used, or are using, her newly-trademarked slogan to sell merchandise. Followers began ripping the 22-year-old billionaire apart, calling her greedy and petty.

Luckily, Kylie is bringing some sunshine back into the viral meme. Cosmopolitan reports that the makeup mogul took to Twitter this week to clear up the confusion. She wrote, “guys, please don’t believe everything you read. I have not sent any Rise and Shine cease and desist letters. Rise and Shine was an unexpected moment… I had a lot of fun with it, and I have laughed so hard seeing everyone’s memes since the video came out a few weeks ago,” adding in the following tweet, “there are no law suits [sic], no cease and desist letters. Happy Sunday.”

If that wasn’t confirmation enough, one of the companies that Kylie supposedly threatened to sue, called Cased Clothing, posted a note on their Instagram a few days prior which read, “You may have seen CASED on the news regarding Kylie Jenner & the rise and shine slogan. We are in no way cooperating in this drama and will be closing the website down until this all blows over. We currently do not and have never had a problem with Kylie Jenner.”

While it is unfortunate that the company's website had to temporarily close, hopefully Kylie’s clarification will help "Rise and Shine" be something to smile over once more.
